Ray Manzarek, co-founder of The Doors has died aged 74.
A popular figure, Ray gave the band its distinctive keyboard sound. With The Doors having no bass player, he often played the bass line as well as the distinctive solos on all-time-classics such as Light My Fire and Riders on the Storm.
Farewell Ray; you will be missed.
Star of the Harry Potter films and more recently The Bling Ring, Emma Watson says teenagers are losing their inner child at an ever earlier age thanks to Twitter, Facebook et. al.
Talking at the launch of The Bling Ring she said the young now think of the idea of no privacy as normal and are losing their childish naivety early
“I think it’s a shame that some of that naivety or past being blissfully unaware that’s definitely being shortened. That period of time when you’re not self-conscious is sped up.
“Its just one of those things.”
Coldplay has won the Best British Act award at this year’s Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Cleff Awards.
Chris Martin, the band’s vocalist and front man, said that receiving the award “meant a huge amount” to the band.
The Silver Cleff Awards raises money for music therapy, and hopes to raise in excess of £500,000 from this year’s awards.
Olivia Colman, she of Twenty Twelve and Accused, picked up two Bafta television awards at this year’s ceremony in London.
That’s for best comedy actress and best supporting actress. She thanked her parents for babysitting so she could attend the ceremony 🙂
The 7th Star Wars film is to start production in 2014 for a planned release in 2015, and it’s to be filmed in the UK.
The previous films were all partly filmed in the UK, but this is the first to be both filmed and produced in there.
British Film Commission CEO said the announcement is “a great success story”.
